before the demolition

By mid-day Sunday the only things left on the deck were 3 large planters containing the cedars, 3 barrels filled with cherry tomatoes & herbs, and 3 unbelievably heavy benches. Tomorrow morning, before they start disassembling the deck, the burly young men can give us a hand with that. At least I hope they are burly!

Very excited to get the deck refurbished.

Friday afternoon Cathey came for a late lunch. She brought a few dog puzzles which the dogs had a blast solving. Lupa was first and muddled her way through - I think what success she had was more luck than skill. Adia however seemed to remember the hard puzzle and got right to it, clearly enjoying the challenge. A similar puzzle is in our Amazon shopping cart to be included in our next order :-)

Saturday we did a bit of fence demolition for Mom & Dad. With Olaf, Shawn, Erik, and Carm doing the heavy work, I flitted around doing what I could. The 4 strong guys muscled the fence down in just over 2 hours. Shawn bucked up the panels to release the cedar boards in the middle of the fence as they will be re-used. A pile of scrap that is more rusty nail than wood remains stacked at the side of their yard.

The field was baled a few days ago releasing infinite scents to keep the hounds interested. Who knows what they’ve eaten… I don’t really want to think about it, especially as Lupa likes to bounce onto our laps for snuggles with the odd sneaky kiss thrown in (yuck)...

For perhaps the first time since he left us I was able to look at photos of Spike without crying…

Tonight Trudie & Leo came over for a hastily prepared tomato soup. Garlic crostinis & cucumber slices rounded out the megar fare.

Awesome!
