swallows and snowbirds

While sitting outside on our new chairs (more about that later), waiting for a glimpse of the Snowbirds, I saw the first swallow of the season. It’s a good thing too as that is the only aeronautics that I was going to see today… we heard the snowbirds pass far to the west of us - lunch bag letdown…

This morning we headed into the city in the truck to do a curbside pick-up of our four new chairs. Not much traffic but the city felt strange and everything moved too fast - I’m getting used to the slower life stuck at home. The chairs were loaded with no problems and better yet, unloaded at their new home. They’ll be perfect for laneway visits!

We stretched it a little bit and celebrated ‘green day’ today :-)  Kirsten and I got together for a nice long visit after supper. While it was great to see her electronically, I can hardly wait till we can visit face to face again!

A polar vortex is bearing down on us tonight… we could already feel the icy wind when we were outside watching for the Snowbirds. Snow is in the forecast for overnight. geesh.

Watching the news… how can Ikea be considered an essential business? Also, unrelated to the news - how long do cinnamon buns take to defrost? This cold weather is making me want to carb load!

Headline tonight:  1,292,223 cases with 76,908 deaths in the US. There are a total of 64,922 (63,403 yesterday) cases of Covid-19 in Canada today, with 4,408 (4,223 yesterday) deaths to date.

“Spring in its fullness had returned. Its deep breath was blowing damp and warm, the flowers quivered within the seeds, and the round earth began to ripen like a fruit.”
