Earwig

Today's word of the day is earwig (EER-wig verb : to annoy or attempt to influence by private talk). I'm sure we've all been party to this, either on the sending side or the receiving side. Over the last 6 months or so at work some people often earwigged me about others, but really, here is not the place to discuss that or I'd be guilty of earwigging myself (do you think I'm using the word correctly - I'm not really sure). Maybe we are better off talking about earwigs - the insect. When we are camping, they hide themselves in everything left outside overnight and are gross creatures. They like to wiggle their way into the folds of the fabric for the dogs beds and in between the layers of Grace's cage cover. We have to be careful to shake everything out before stowing it the camper. Twenty years or so ago we had none in this area but they have proliferated with great success. I think they'll be around at the end of the world keeping the cockroaches company...

My pleasure today - every single moment spent outside. It was one of those glorious days that can only be had in winter. A beautiful summer day just doesn't have the contrast. The sun was shining strongly, there was no wind, and the temperature inched its way past 0C. We started out with a little snowshoe and then just hung around in the laneway while the dogs played. Even Kabira was content to linger outside a while longer. If the outside chairs had been handy we would have dragged them out and enjoyed a cup of tea or hot chocolate while catching some more rays. As it was I pulled up a comfy chair to the window seat and basked in the sun with a hot chocolate (also a good pass time, even when the weather is icy cold - perhaps even better then).
